Co Op CARRIER BAG DONATION
We are very grateful for the donation from the Co-operative Society bag initiative. The money will be used to purchase several dermatoscopes that will improve dermatology services at Mendip Country Practice. Dermatoscopes are powerful handheld illuminated microscopes that enable doctors to closely view abnormal moles of the skin. The doctor will now be able to photograph moles to monitor them, and decide whether to urgently refer the patient for an operation or send the photograph for an expert to review them.
"CALL FIRST" APPOINTMENT SYSTEM
How to book an appointment with your GP from Thursday 12 July 2018
From Thursday 12th July, we will be improving our appointments system and how you book an appointment to see your GP. The aim is to improve access to the GP of your choice and to ensure you have your health care needs managed effectively and efficiently.
When you call the Practice to make an appointment, you will now be asked the following questions:
- Is this a new or ongoing health issue
- A brief description of your symptoms (in confidence)
This will help the appointment staff manage your appointment request effectively, as it might be more appropriate for you to see one of our nurses or another Healthcare professional.
If you need to make an appointment with your doctor, the appointment staff will add your details to your chosen doctor’s telephone consultation list. The doctor will then call you back as soon as possible.

Chlamydia Screening - have you been tested?
Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the UK.
It's passed on from one person to another through unprotected sex and is particularly common in sexually active teenagers and young adults.
If you live in England, are under 25 and are sexually active, it's recommended that you get tested for chlamydia every year or when you change sexual partner.
Getting tested for chlamydia
Testing for chlamydia is done with a urine test or a swab test. You don't always need a physical examination by a nurse or doctor.
Anyone can get a free and confidential chlamydia test at a sexual health clinic, a genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic or a GP surgery. Speak with one of our Nurses or ask at Reception for a test pack.

5 patients who benefitted from your Eye treatment donation of KES 40,000/=. The patients went through a successful Cataract surgery at the Kwale Eye Center clinic. When I spoke to them they could not stop to express their joy of having sight back again.
The funds were used to cover for their, transport, meals & accommodation (for 2days), surgery services and drug treatment. They were all very thankful!
Thank you once again for your generous donation towards their treatment.

If you suspect that you have been contacted by a bogus caller, please let us know as soon as possible.
