Repeat Prescriptions
Please request your medication in writing, in person at the surgery, by fax or email to: somicb.dispensary-mendipcp@nhs.net or via the website (simple registration required for website access).
Please plan ahead and allow 3 working days (72 hrs) for us to issue the prescription. The dispensary may require additional time to prepare the medication due to the Christmas period.
Repeat Prescription Requests - Christmas period
For repeat prescriptions please request them no later than the 19th December.
Requests made after this are not guaranteed to be ready in time for Christmas.

Online Repeat Prescriptions
Order Your Repeat Prescription Online
You are now able to request a repeat prescription with the doctor online, using the surgery Patient Access (formerly EMIS) medical system via the link above.
In order to request repeat medication online you must have previously obtained the necessary access codes. Please click here for more information.
Always allow 72 hours (excluding weekends) for your request to be processed before collecting your medication.
We are pleased to be able to offer a free medication delivery service to our dispensing patients – your repeat medication can be delivered to you at home on a regular basis (or delivered to another person you nominate to take delivery for you). Please contact dispensary for more information. On each delivery, our driver will arrange with you your next delivery – so you don't have to contact the surgery to order your next lot of medication.
Repeat medication can also be requested and delivered to post offices in the villages of Holcombe, Mells and Stoke St Michael. This voluntary service continues due to the generosity of the postmasters of these villages.
Non–Dispensing Patients
What is a non–dispensing patient?
If you live within 1 mile (1.6 km) of a chemist (as the crow flies) we cannot dispense your medication. This means that although you may be registered with the practice and collect printed prescriptions from our dispensary, we are not allowed to dispense the medication if you live within a mile of a chemist. This is not our decision! Although we would like to provide all of our patients with a full dispensing service, we have to abide by dispensary laws.
Important Notice
We have recently migrated our computer software to Emis Web, and as standard procedure on this system, the diagnosis for medication is now detailed along with the prescription.
Should you wish for someone else to collect your medication on your behalf, and do not wish them to view your prescription, please advise the dispensary staff who can arrange for your prescription to be placed in a sealed envelope.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
